One of Geoffrey Faulder’s earliest memories is of being dragged to safety as a two-year-old boy by his frantic mother as they ran for shelter during a bombing raid. It was 1940, and the World War 2 blitz was at its height. After that time of terror the news could only get better, and when the war came to an end Geoff began to enjoy holidays in the country, on a farm and by the seaside. As a young man he was taken on in a junior position with an insurance broker, but there was more fun and adventure to be added during National Service overseas with the Army, which are described in entertaining detail in this enjoyable memoir.
